Your Daily Yoga Practice

Continuing our series on 'Boost Your Energy', the first two blogs focused on the incorporation of nature's five elements and examined how they impact our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Today, we will explore how you can apply these principles to your daily yoga practice for improved health and overall wellness. In this blog post, I will give you an overview of the sessions I developed for a private Yoga Detox Retreat Week at Bahia Mar Boutique Hotel in Vilankulos, Mozambique. These Yin Yoga Sessions, which I'm excited to share with you, are rooted in the profound wisdom of nature's elements.

Elevate your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being by integrating the beauty of nature into your yoga sessions. Join us for 'Boost Your Energy' and witness the incredible impact it can have on your holistic wellness.

Boost Your Energy

Experience the transformative power of our 'Boost Your Energy' program, inspired by a Yoga Detox Week that I created for a client while teaching yoga in Mozambique. Detoxing is about letting go of what no longer serves you and embracing holistic nourishment. Throughout this program, we will explore your body, heart, mind, spirit, and energy field, allowing you to fulfill your innermost needs and find a sense of wholeness.

Yoga and the elements

Let's dedicate our attention to the health and well-being of your physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and energetic body. Do you remember the five bodies? Take a quick look at the previous two blogs of 'Boost Your Energy' to refresh your memory or delve deeper into this topic.

Throughout the practices I'll guide you through, we'll closely observe the changes in your inner and outer world. Moreover, you'll gain a deeper understanding of nature's five elements. Can you recall the elements too? During the program, our focus will be on Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Ether (Space).

Why is a Yoga Detox Healthy?

A yoga detox, also known as an Energy Boost, offers numerous health benefits. Firstly, practicing yoga aids in the elimination of toxins from the body by promoting sweating and stimulating the lymphatic system. Moreover, yoga helps to reduce stress and enhance mental clarity, leading to an overall improvement in health.

Lastly, engaging in yoga often encourages healthier habits like maintaining a balanced diet and engaging in regular exercise, which contribute to long-term wellness. Now, you might be wondering, "Which type of yoga is the most beneficial for improving health?" or simply put, "What type of yoga is the best?"

What Type of Yoga is the Best?

To detox your body, a combination of active and relaxed yoga practices would be ideal. I recommend trying Vinyasa Yoga for a more dynamic workout and Yin Yoga for stretching and releasing tension. However, there are various types of yoga, each with its own benefits. Popular styles like Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative yoga are great for improving health. These styles focus on physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.

The pace of each style varies, depending on the yoga style and instructor's teaching style. Vinyasa Yoga emphasizes flow and movement, while Yin and Restorative Yoga involve passive stretching and relaxation. Ultimately, the best yoga style for your health goals will depend on your individual needs. I suggest trying different styles to find the one that resonates with you the most.

Functional Yoga

In the 'Boost Your Energy' program, we will be diving into the world of Yin Yoga. My approach to practicing Vinyasa- and Yin Yoga is greatly influenced by José de Groot, Sarah Powers, and Paul & Suzee Grilley, which is also known as 'Functional Yoga'. But what does that mean exactly? Well, in my (online) yoga classes, I place a strong emphasis on the physical aspects of the practice.

Why? Because I want you to feel confident and safe when practicing the different poses, enabling you to eventually practice on your own. To assist you in this journey, I've curated over 77 Yoga Videos that are absolutely free and accessible on YouTube (Yin Yoga With Marianne). So, let's embark on this energizing yoga adventure together.

Aim of Doing Yoga

Join me on a transformative yoga journey where we will explore different themes to shift our focus from the external world to our inner selves. Through these yoga practices, we will cultivate 'INsight' - a deeper understanding of ourselves. Sarah Powers and her husband Ty have created a unique style of yoga called 'Insight Yoga', which beautifully blends yoga, Buddhism, and psychology.

Alongside yoga, we will also engage in breathing exercises and meditations to transition from constant 'doing' to embracing the art of 'being'. By living in the present moment, we can lead a more mindful life. Additionally, I will provide you with valuable resources to further explore topics such as Yin Yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Buddhism, and Psychology.

Practice of Yoga

Yoga is not just about memorizing pose names; it's a holistic practice that affects your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. By concentrating on your breath and being fully present, you can truly embrace the essence of yoga. Don't get caught up in the labels of poses; instead, focus on the sensations in your body and the mindfulness you cultivate during your practice. Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, always remember that the true worth of yoga lies in the transformative experience and the positive impact it has on your overall state of being.

My Approach to Yoga

Instead of looking outward, let's look inward and embrace 'INsight'. Let's transition from 'doing' to 'being' and view it all as a wonderful experiment, similar to the origins of Yoga. Remember, we can enjoy ourselves along the way too! Feel encouraged to share your experiences and feedback with me regarding the practices I'm providing, so I can make any needed changes. Reach out to me whenever you'd like.
